The Book of Eli

Tonight Megan took me to see The Book of Eli. If you can get past the killing scenes the message is great. I won't give away the story in case you want to see it, but I left that theater with a lot to think about! Denzel Washington is the main character. The story has God, faith, and the Bible woven throughout it. I pray that who ever sees it and is not a believer leaves the theater wondering, thinking, hoping, and seeking more. And I also pray that if a believer sees it, that the movie reminds them to listen to the Holy Spirit and trust in His direction. Without giving away any details...I loved that Denzel's character shows that if you listen to God, follow His direction and keep going no matter what you will get to where He is asking you to go. And even as you walk forth in faith hard things will come at you, but it is in your trust and believe that gets you to where God is calling you to go. "...And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith." Hebrews 12:1-2

Sometimes it can seem like we aren't getting anywhere in the "race" God has set before us. But God's timing is so different than ours. He knows the preparations and the stamina that we need to build in order to get to the end of the race. And the thing that I am learning is that I am running the race. I use to think that if I wasn't completing something I was on the wrong path or not doing anything. But now I am beginning to see that God prepares us along the way for more. He is teaching me along the way. He is opening my heart, ears, and eyes along the way. He is introducing me to new people. He is opening doors and clearing the path. He is shutting some doors and redirecting me.

But God never wants me to stop listening and following his lead. "Walk by faith and not by sight". God says that in His Word. Eli says that in the movie...and it is so true. God wants me to faithfully walk in the direction He has set for me and not worry about seeing where I am going....trust and bELIeve.

It is easy to lose stamina and want to stop....or think we aren't going anywhere. But we have to keep going. We have to believe that God knows what he is doing. Because He does.

Keep moving. Keep believing. Keep walking in the direction God is leading....trust and believe. Have faith. God is guiding you if you will listen.

Love, Teresa
