Dandelions

I mowed my front and back yard on Saturday. It takes about an hour and a half using my push mower...stopping dumping the bag...starting back up...and dumping again and again and again.

Sunday early evening, my dad and his family came over to take our family out to dinner (for Madie's bday). We were talking about my yard.

My nicely mowed grass of one day...that was so nicely manicured...on the corner lot of our neighborhood...one day later...(did I say that already)...was sprouting with dandelions...it looked like they had been there for weeks they were so tall....did I say it was only one day since I had a beautifully mowed yard?

Those dandelions...weeds...sprout up so quickly...their roots are still there...they stay there unless pulled out by the root and thrown in to the yard waste.

The roots are there....

Ready to pop back up...

Never really gone...

Still hiding in the darkness of the earth...

They have no problem coming back...

When I peered at those dandelions growing back so quickly and effortlessly...God whispered in my ear that in order for the weeds to be completely gone from my life I would need to allow God to pull them out by the roots and pour the Holy Spirit in there place so that they do not come back.

When we just mow over the top of those "weeds" they grow right back. Mowing over can be trying to get rid of them in our own strength, just brushing them off as not a big deal or ignoring them all together. I am good at all three of those ways.

"So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you..." Colossians 3:5

"So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don't get tied up again in slavery to the law." Galatians 5:1

"Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many." Hebrews 12:15

Those are some great scriptures to meditate on so that those pesky dandelion weeds don't start popping up in our lives.

The Holy Spirit is our weed killer!

Love you....Teresa
