Today is my official first post to my blog. I have sat here many times wondering what to write...wanting it to be profound or maybe funny, interesting, witty...but God wants me to be real and follow His lead...so here goes my first day of blogging.
Before I head off to church on Sunday mornings, I try to remember to pray for our Pastor, the worship team, and everyone who will walk through the doors. Yesterday before I left my house, I spent some time in prayer and this is the prayer God placed on my heart:
"Lord allow the words that flow from our Pastor's mouth to be like milk and honey--that your Word would flow out and rain down into the hearts and minds of the people like manna. People will know something is there---they will know and sense that the words were meant for them. People will think "What is it?" The words will be like manna---just the right amount for that person, that family. The words will be made in to sweet nourishment for their lives. Just as God gave only what the Israelites needed for that day, today God's word, God's love, God's presence will be like manna---just enough needed for today.
Hold out your hands for what I have for you says the Lord. It is just enough. I will give you just enough. Take for today. I know just what you need for today says the Lord."
"Moses told them, It is the food the Lord has given you to eat. These are the Lord's instructions: Each household should gather as much as it needs. Pick up two quarts for each person in your tent.' So the people of Israel did as they were told. Some gathered a lot, some only a little. But when they measure it out, everyone had just enough. Those who gathered a lot had nothing left over, and those who gathered only a little had enough. Each family had just what it needed." Exodus 16:15-18 NLT
As I sat in church yesterday, worshiped, and listened to the message I asked God to open my ears to what He wanted me to hear. I realized that what God wanted me to take away from Him that morning was going to be different from what the person in the row ahead of me may have needed to get out of the message. God knows what we need to hear, what we need for that particular day or season in our life.
While I was worshipping one line out of a song jumped out at me and as soon as I heard it, I knew that was what God wanted me to get out of worship that day. I have been questioning the path that I believed God had me on. I wondered if I was hearing myself instead of God. I was worrying that I was following my own desires. And this line from the song told me different because I was willing to take just enough manna for myself for the day from worship.
During our message I found one particular theme that I knew was just for me. It was exactly what I needed for the day. It was just enough for me. I find that so comforting. I love knowing that I can hear the same message that a room of a few hundred heard and God will use it to speak to each of us in just the way He wants us to hear it...it will be just what we need for the day...it will be just enough. We might say "What is it?" because the words will speak to us, make us think and help us wonder. God says I have just enough for you. Pick it up. Eat it. Let it nourish your body, your heart, and your mind.
I pray that today you will see the manna in front of you. I pray that you will pick it up because it is just enough for you. I pray that you will trust God to give you what He knows is the right amount for you for this particular day. I pray that the words of our God will jump off the pages of the Bible and you will know that God has just what you need from it, and it will be as sweet as honey. Manna was meant to satisfy the Isrealites physically for the day. Remember that Christ is our daily bread...He will satisfy our phyical, spiritual, and emotional needs for today.
"What is it?" It is just enough.
Have a fabulous day!

ReplyDeleteI took a postit note and simply wrote Manna on it and stuck it by my desk. I need to remember to just take what He has for me today and not worry about the rest. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteLove you. Oline:)
